About Us

Dr. Nasim Gorgani, D.C.

Dr. Nasim Gorgani was born in the Bay Area and raised in Tehran, Iran. While growing up, she started swimming and playing squash competitively. Dr. Gorgani learned to play squash from her mother, who had been an avid squash player, and learned early on that staying active is very important for maintaining good health.

Young Nasim initially chose to study music during her undergraduate years but then pivoted to the study of chiropractic. She always felt the desire to pursue a profession which involved working with her hands, and first became interested in Chiropractic when she learned that “chiropractic” is defined as “done by hand”.

Dr. Gorgani has spent her career working with patients of all ages and professions with different backgrounds and experiences—from athletes to musicians and artists—who suffer from acute and/or chronic pain. She is dedicated to helping patients restore motion and function and also to helping them prevent recurrent injury.

Dr. Gorgani uses a combination of techniques and modalities including Chiropractic Manipulation Treatment, Myofascial Release Technique, Activator Technique, Therapeutic Ultrasound, EPAT (Shockwave), Electro-Acuscope, and Laser Therapy.

Dr. Gorgani is very inspired by the fact that healing can be achieved without the use of medications or invasive interventions.

Dr. Nasim Gorgani offers ergonomic evaluations, wellness chiropractic care, rehab exercises and stretching instructions based on individual needs.

Dr. Pleskovitch graduated Summa Cum Laude from Life Chiropractic College West in 1996.

Practicing in Palo Alto ever since, Dr. Pleskovitch has treated literally hundreds of patients for skeletal and soft tissue problems. She opened the Spine and Therapy Center in April 2003.Certified Provider:

Dr. Lyresa Pleskovitch, D.C.

I work with patients of all ages to help them feel better, prevent injury and increase performance. If you have heard of me before, it was probably from another patient or doctor. I’ve been in practice for 27 years, and more than 90% of my new patients are referred to me.

I first became interested in Chiropractic due to a personal injury. I’m a cyclist and runner now, but when I was younger I was into weight training. When I was 21, I ruptured a disc in my lower back, at the gym. If I had seen a chiropractor for the early symptoms, I might have been able to prevent the severe injury that required surgery.

I’m happy to practice Chiropractic because it is a healthful, drug-free, holistic solution for many skeletal and muscular problems. With ongoing training and education I also add other new skills and techniques every year. My patients and I have had great results with Active Release Technique (ART)® and Graston Technique®. Shockwave has been very effective in promoting deep tissue healing. And many of my patients have found new strength, stability and comfort with the innovative foot orthotics from Sole Supports®.

Dr. Pleskovitch is an avid cyclist and runner, having completed numerous marathons, cycling centuries and double centuries. She is a multiple winner of the California Triple Crown, and has bicycled throughout much of the United States.

Dr. Shane Lokken, D.C.

Dr. Shane Lokken is a second-generation Chiropractor that was born in Capitola, CA and now resides in Colorado. Dr. Shane is in Palo Alto collaborating with an MD from Stanford on a treatment protocol for headaches caused by a pinched nerve at the base of the skull called Occipital Neuralgia. While he is in Palo Alto, Dr. Shane is honored to be joining Dr. Gorgani and Dr. Pleskovitch at The Spine and Therapy Center.

There truly is nothing more rewarding than helping people feel better. Dr. Shane understands he is not just treating the patient, he is also indirectly treating the patients loved ones and the community at large. Because when the patient gets better their loved ones don’t worry so much, the dog gets more walks, and the community gets happier and healthier.

As a Chiropractor Dr. Shane is most known for his “Muscle Work” and his gentle adjustments. Dr. Shane has many patients with spinal fusions and other conditions which adjustments are not an option, and his “Muscle Work” is highly effective at getting great relief without an adjustment. His treatment approach is to balance the muscles before adjusting. When Dr. Shane does adjust he uses low force drop table adjustments, as well as Activator, and Diversified techniques. Dr. Shane uses the patients’ muscles to his advantage and by doing so has figured out how to make manual Chiropractic adjustments painless.

Dr. Shane specializes in treating patients with

  • Headaches, especially those caused by Occipital Neuralgia
  • Shoulder pain
  • Knee pain
  • Foot pain
  • Ankle pain

Dr. Shane has developed many of his own treatment maneuvers and is excited to share them with the residents of Palo Alto and the Bay Area. Dr. Shane loves his job and his patients. Dr. Shane’s patients call him the “gentle giant of Chiropractic” and say his personality and sense of humor make every visit fun. Call today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Shane Lokken while he is in town and experience his maneuvers and techniques before they are online for the world to see.

Ekaterina Beliakova, C.M.T.

Ekaterina has developed a deep appreciation for an integrative approach to sustainable wellness and individual evolution throughout her years of professional studies, experiences and travels in the US and East Asia. Initially inspired and influenced by the legacy of traditional Chinese medicine, particularly various capacities of human body to activate internal healing mechanisms and adapt to the ever-evolving environment, she supports evidence-based principles, findings and solutions modern medicine and various scientific branches and research movements have had to offer to the communities of practice.

Nearly three years of Covid-19 have been demonstrating the interconnectedness of social impact and personal outcomes ever so vividly – healthy lifestyle is a complex continuum, a consistent collaborative effort, and holistic preventive care and embodiment practices are crucial in strengthening routine coping skills and supporting any transformative experiences.

Focus on bringing physical self-awareness and emotional equilibrium, desire to assist with letting go of the energy that has served its purpose, with gratitude, and exploring new perspectives in physical mobility and functional fulfillment are among the top gifts of touch for Ekaterina.

Equipped with techniques and methods in various modalities, she will assume her role as a facilitator in your somatic navigation, listening to and observing your reflexes.

Ekaterina will suggest customized solutions to benefit and complement any of your therapeutic needs and preferences, from general tension release, routine body maintenance to any post-traumatic treatments and chronic concerns, efficiently and synergistically.

Ekaterina is a registered member of Ortho-Bionomy Society International, International Association for the Study of Pain, and American College of Sports Medicine, and she always benefits from any opportunity in continued education, aimed to empower her clients and enrich her practice.

Elisabeth

Elisabeth offers a diverse set of skills in health-oriented massage. She graduated from National Holistic Institute’s 1350 hour program in 2017, of which 450 hours focused on Dr. Janet Travell’s Trigger Point therapy. She holds a degree as a CMT/Cnmt and Health Educator.

Since graduating she has continued her education adding Certifications in Scar Work and Bone Fascia Work taught by Sharon Wheeler. Other courses taken include DermoNeuroModulating (DNM), Anatomy Trains courses for myofascial-release therapy, and is currently taking courses in Neurovascular Release (NVR), and Proprioceptive-Deep Tendon Reflex (P-DTR) which are used to treat a variety of soft tissue dysfunctions. She also continues to take online health education classes related to: diet, environmental effects on health (internal and external), how stress affects our fascial health, vital organs, and chronic/inflammatory medical issues. Her passion for learning new ways to assist people in suffering never ends.

Elisabeth’s interest in health-related therapies began in 1996, studying medical Qi Gung, reflexology, and other health-related modalities while earning her living in tech. After suffering a high speed, rear-end auto accident, she found herself revisiting her career path. The accident left her suffering for more than four years. Elisabeth overcame the pain through her tenacious commitment to full recovery, and an unwillingness to accept the standard answer.
